Data regarding sales of insulating materials in Europe place Italy among last positions. In recent years there have been some improvements that increase our hope for the future.
The Gas and Electricity Authority has helped increase the insulation in buildings; furthermore the ministerial decree of 24th April 2001 imposes the minimum thermal parameters in order to improve energy efficiency in the country.

- the density of the insulating material (weight per unit volume) : in fact, thermal resistance is inversely proportional to density;
- permeability to steam: roofs must not be a place for steam condense. To avoid this problem it is fundamental to choose the insulators carefully and properly. The market offers many possibilities, for example transpiring or impermeable ones. Only the “Glaser Test”, done by technicians, can help choose the most suitable material.
